PVR transforms its urban leisure spaces by bringing the luxury of purified air at its multiplexes

Launches“AUDIT-AIR-IUM” - country’s First Clean-Air Cinemas using Green tech

India’s largest cinema exhibition company - PVR Ltd., today, became country’s first entertainment company to revamp and retrofit central air purification systems powered by Nirvana Being to combat indoor air-pollution in the most effective manner. Pioneering the concept of transforming urban leisure spaces conscious of air quality standards; PVR is personalizing its cinema infrastructures to provide a refreshing and rejuvenating movie viewing experience to its patrons.

Driven by the environmental situation and consumer demand to live smart and breathe fresh, PVR today, inaugurated its first of many “Audit-Air-Ium” theater sat the Directors’ Cut, Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj. Retrofitted with customized world-class air cleaners, the “clean air theater “concept maintains Indoor Air Quality as per National Air Quality Index(AQI) standard as under 100 and propose a 15 minutes’ addition to one’s life during the 3 hours of luxury cinema viewing.

Focusing on metro cities with worst air quality in the world as per WHO; PVR ‘Audit-Air-Iums’ will be installed across Delhi – NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad encompassing mainstream screens, Gold class, and playhouse cinemas.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, Joint Managing Director, PVR Ltd., said,“In the recent years, the air quality in India has deteriorated considerably. In times like today where air filters and purifiers are no more a luxury, but a basic living necessity, we at PVR are striving to address this growing cause of concern. We have developed this model in association with Nirvana being by retrofitting our properties with air purification technology to create a cleaner environment for a refreshing cinematic experience.”

He further added, “Since sensitizing public areas is un-achievable on account of the area that needs to attain and thereafter maintain the air quality; movie theaters are indeed better situated to control and sustain it. Once the movie starts, there is very little opening and closing of doors and thus, premium indoor air quality is achieved and maintained. PVR as a pioneer in the exhibition space with the thought to serve its patrons with best multiplexes around the globe is also concerned about their health and not just their entertainment needs. Ensuring a luxurious cinematic experience in a clean-air environment is our vision of tomorrow and PVR intends to implement this in a phased manner to guarantee an invigorating movie watching experience.”

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Jai Dhar Gupta, Founder of Nirvana Being, said “By partnering with PVR, we aim to create a holistically safe and healthy environment for families to enjoy cinema with complete peace of mind. It is an established fact that Delhi has hazardous ambient air - combine that with the fact that indoor air is 5-10 times more polluted(than outdoor air) due to other pollutants as well as allergens – we think this initiative is simply “Responsible Business”. Nirvana Being is a market leader in Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) compliance and PVR Ltd., India’s largest cinema chain intends to establish a new benchmark in the multiplex industry through this collaboration. Nirvana Being and PVR Cinemas will retrofit air purification systems so that the patrons can watch movies in a luxurious and healthy space to completely unwind from their hectic lifestyle. This remarkable initiative, Audit-Air-Iums, will surely revolutionize people’s cinematic experience!”

Nexteer Captilizes, Invests In Growing Software Trend

Nexteer Expands Strategic Software Investment & Global Team Plans New Software Center in India, Supplements Global Software Team in US, Poland & China Nexteer Automotive, a global leader in intuitive motion control, opens new Software Center in Bangalore Invests 2 Million USD for overall activities for the fiscal year 2019 Nexteer to hire 50 people to start with and will go up to 100 – 200.

Bangalore April 11, 2018 – Nexteer Automotive expands its strategic software investment and global software team by announcing intention to open a Software Center in India.  The Software Center will be the latest addition to the Company’s global software team that operates under one digital roof with locations in Saginaw, US; Tychy, Poland; and Suzhou, China. Nexteer Automotive presently has centers Pune and Gurgaon. In addition to this, Nexteer is also planning to set up a plant in Chennai for manufacturing of Electronic Power steering which is expected to be functional by 2018 Q3.

Nexteer’s Global Technical Center in Saginaw – in tandem with regional Technical Centers in Tychy and Suzhou will continue focusing on upstream software development and R&D innovation.  Meanwhile, the new Software Center in India will focus on downstream software production and validation ensuring quality and compliance with regulations.  The company has invested over 2 Million USD for overall activities for the fiscal year 2019. Nexteer is planning to hire around 50 people to start with for India Software Centre and will go up to 100 - 200.

“Nexteer’s software business model and our enhanced global team structure is based on delivering innovative software solutions with speed, flexibility and seamless vehicle integration for our global automotive OEM customers.  The role of software in vehicles – and especially in safety-critical steering – is evolving quickly.  Consequently, automotive OEMs’ need for Nexteer’s smart software solutions to their complex challenges has grown exponentially,” said Geoff Krieger, Executive Director of Electronic Systems and Software, Nexteer Automotive.

Nexteer views its software and electronics capabilities among its key differentiators and expects market demand for its software expertise to grow. Consequently, Nexteer is scouting locations in India for its Software Center and will continue investing in software capabilities over the next several years.

Industry analysts agree.  “Electronics and software are key differentiators in future growth areas… The ADAS and AD automotive component market will strongly grow providing an increasing revenue pool mainly for software focused suppliers…intelligent systems integrated with ADAS are expected to offer growth potential within respective domains (e.g., steering...),” LAZARD Roland-Berger’s Global Automotive Supplier Study 2018.

Pricewaterhouse Cooper’s 2018 report, Five Trends Transforming the Automotive Industry, concurs – highlighting companies that invest in software applications will be “rewarded with strong growth.”

Nexteer’s software plays a safety-critical role – including cyber security – in its products such as Steer-by-Wire (SbW) and Electric Power Steering Systems (EPS) that are key gateway technologies for advanced safety functions and automated driving.

“It’s all about safety and performance.  As vehicle technology evolves to include varying levels of advanced safety features and increasing levels of autonomous driving, our steering software ensures the safety net is ‘always on’ in our Steer-by-Wire and Advanced Electric Power Steering Systems.  In addition to our hardware redundancies, our software is built for simultaneous, multi-path processing to strengthen this safety net,” said Krieger.

“Software also plays a key role in cybersecurity.  We not only design hardware modules on the semi-conductor level for cyber-secure steering, we also design software structures with multiple layers that identify and authorize information and command flow between the steering system and other controllers. As vehicles adopt more advanced electronics to enable automated driving, internet connectivity and V2X communication, Nexteer’s cyber-secure steering technologies become even more critical.”

As Nexteer continues adding functionality and advanced safety features to its steering systems – the number of lines of code required is astounding: 14.3 Million lines of code required in Nexteer’s SbW; and 4.3 Million lines of code required in Nexteer’s EPS – compared to 400,000 lines of code required in the first space shuttle.

The concurrent viewership of VIVO IPL on Hotstar exceeded the peak viewership of 4.6 million for the streaming of the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump in January 2017.

The Vivo IPL experience on Hotstar has been reimagined to be leagues ahead of the sports experience on any platform in the world, with features like Watch'NPlay, a game that tests the viewers' cricket smarts as they watch a match, as well as VR and social features, that make the experience more immersive than ever before.
"Crossing 5 million on a live sporting event is like breaking the 10-second barrier in the 100 meter dash. We are proud that we are the first to get here. But, of even more importance, we are excited that fans have embraced the immersive sports experience on Hotstar that has brought together live streaming, the expression of fan emotions and an interactive always-on game. This is the future of video online and we are excited to shape it. At this scale, we will be clearly testing the ability of different parts of the Internet to keep up with the dramatic growth in fan followership. And, we are delighted that Akamai has been a partner that has always walked in step with our ambitions and delivered the scale that we seek," said Ajit Mohan, CEO, Hotstar.

"Hotstar is one of the pioneers in the live streaming industry in India, and has changed the way hundreds of millions of people consume content. Akamai's partnership with Hotstar has changed how people enjoy a variety of content ranging from general entertainment to live sports anytime, anywhere and on any device," said Parimal Pandya, Vice President, Media, APJ, Akamai Technologies.

Fishbowl, the leading data, marketing and analytics solutions provider to restaurants, has released its 5th annual "Emerging Brands Report" announcing the 30 "emerging brands" for 2018 that exhibit a strong promise of potential growth in the upcoming year, based on the analysis of social data.

The report identifies emerging brands within the restaurant industry that are growing while embracing progressive and innovative and approaches to food, service, atmosphere and their audience. Consumers often discover these brands early in their development and become emotionally invested in their growth, creating an active sense of ownership that drives loyalty and increases vocal support via social media. Recognized in order as the top 10 emerging brands for 2018 are: True Food KitchenBareburgerHarvest  Seasonal GrillFirebird's Wood Fired GrillTupelo Honey CafeLa Colombe CoffeeThe Lazy DogMendocino FarmsHopCat, and Cava Grill.

A new element introduced into the ranking process of this year's report is the Fishbowl Social Score™. This metric uses key performance indicators to rate restaurants' success in social media on a 1-10 scale across multiple social channels -- analyzing consumer feedback, frequency measures from social activity per location, and an Enthusiasm Index.

Each year, Fishbowl's list of emerging brands contains aspects that are indicators of existing trends – one year, Burgers and Pizza dominated, another year 'Fresh' brands were the majority. In 2017, one of the outstanding features of the list was brand strength. Featured restaurants knew their mission – and their customer – inside and out. Distinctive to the 2018 list is the diversity of concepts sought out by today's savvy guest – American, Burger, Family, Mediterranean, Tavern, Vegetarian, Fresh, Asian, Chicken, Coffee, Pizza, Salad and Juice brands are all represented this year.

"The practice of being strongly mission-driven is important," says Mike Lukianoff, Fishbowl's Chief Analytics Officer. "Combine that characteristic with high-quality food and exceptional customer service and it's a recipe for success that breaks through the clutter in what is a very crowded and competitive marketplace."

Social Data Analytics is a key component in the suite of analytic capabilities that Fishbowl delivers to the restaurant industry. "As we see through the social data, true understanding of the individual guest's needs is essential and very relevant when building authentic brand loyalty," said Jim Soss, Chief Executive Officer of Fishbowl.
